Wine O' clock

I'm sorry....what time is it?

· Travel,Food and wine,Lifestyle

Most girls out there have a strange yet unbreakable bond with wine. No matter where we are in the world we can easily be de-stressed by sipping on that glass of vino, dry white or sweet rose. Before moving to South Korea I was extremely concerned that I might land up in a place that does not support my wine habits (needs). Thankfully that was not the case however, I had to sadly accept that the days where I could buy a 1.5 litre of Four Cousins wine for about 60 rand (4 US dollars) were far behind me.

On Saturday the 24th of September Geoje International Centre (GIC) hosted an international

food and wine festival for an unbelievable prize of 13, 000 won per person (standard rate was 15.000 but I have connections so got it for a discounted rate ;) ). This cost included a buffet and all you could drink wine, I couldn't believe the price - even compared to South African standards this was ridiculously cheap. Two restaurants situated in Okpo, Geoje such as Vivace (Italian) and Bombay Brau (Indian) catered for the event. Other individuals from different countries (Vietnam, Korea etc) were encouraged to have food stalls at the event as well. It was a foodies paradise - I was walking around with my glass of white while snacking on chicken tikka, pageon (a seafood Korean savoury pancake) and pizza, thinking to myself that there is no where else I would rather be. This international centre is a great way to interact with other foreigners in Geoje. Besides throwing the best events they also offer a wide variety of activities during the week such as yoga and zumba with trained professionals for a steal of 5000 won per class (after paying a flat rate of 5000 won a month to become a member).

The event was from 6-9 pm and was filled with delicious food, good wine and entertainment with a lucky draw at the end. The only regret we did have was that we didn't get there earlier as after us making the buffet rounds twice - all the food was practically gone. We weren't too worried about that though because as luck would have it my friends and I ended up cleaning up majority of the prizes, being the only group there to take three home. We walked away with two cases of Cass beer and a huge box of Maximum coffee (we felt like champions, although I would have appreciated my prize to be wine and not coffee - Uhm I think someone made a mistake!? Exchange please ;)).

It was a great night but sadly these wine nights don't happen as often as they should in Geoje. Fear not because if you are ever in town and wan't a good bottle, look no further than Lotte Mart in Okpo. They have an unbelievable wine range which will cater to your every need. Some options won't break the bank while others are definitely pricey (let's face it though - you can't put a price tag on good wine).

Cleaned them out but I'm still confused...why did I get coffee? Where is my wine?
